Overclock Your CPU Review
One needs to understand first what it means when we say over clock your CPU.
CPU is the heart of all computers. It controls the entire functionality of a computer. This part is commonly over locked.
Over clocking is a term used by many computer users. It means running a computer at a higher speed than the speed specified by the manufacturer.
Each component is rated for specific speed by the manufacturers after doing necessary tests. If a CPU fails a certain speed then it is sold at the next lower speed. Most of the parts are underrated. Over clocking is taking the advantage of this underrating.

By over clocking one can increase the performance of a computer without increasing the cost much. This is done either to make the system faster or to extend the computer’s power in a limited budget. One should be very cautious when buying a CPU so that it is not already over clocked.
One has to be careful before over clocking a computer as there are some drawbacks associated with over clocking. Firstly warranty by the manufacturer voids whenever a part is over clocked. Over clocking also reduce the functional life span of the part and, if not done properly, may destroy the part completely. Heat generation is also problem associated with over locking. Using better CPU heat sinks and fans can arrest this problem.
One tends to think that over clocking may be dangerous. Well generally it is not. Damage to computer due to over clocking is a rare phenomenon. Damage to CPU is best prevented by keeping it cool. Proper cooling is the most efficient and effective way for successful over clocking.
Over clocking may be a fun and at the same time may be dangerous to the computer. While trying to over clock the CPU one should take care of the following: (a) one should be familiar with the motherboard on which one is working, (b) one has to be sure about the factory rated value of the CPU on which one is going to work, (c) one must remember that a processor require more voltage when one increases the speed of the processor.
If one wants to do extreme over clocking then that may require expensive cooling system. However, one or two speed grades higher than specification over clocking can be achieved without replacing the existing cooling system. Over clocking does not necessarily require expensive motherboards and memory.
If one uses the computer for standard desktop applications, web browsers etc. then it are not worth to over clock.
In most cases of over locking a couple adjustments on motherboard will make system run faster. In other cases it may be required to add a few components to attain the increased performance. Over locking the CPU must be balanced against the remainder of the system’s specifications. Unsuccessful over locking may make the system unstable and can damage the CPU.
In normal CPU is expected to function for 10 years.
